An aspirating smoke detector (ASD) is a system used in active fire protection which commonly draws air through a network of pipes to detect smoke before it is visible to the eye.
If an environment has a requirement for highly sensitive and rapid smoke detection then ASDs are often a good option. Most ASD products can accommodate a broad range of environments and applications – from both confined and open spaces to the cleanest or dirtiest environment, including telecomm, control rooms, waste treatment, mining and more.
Gent have recently produced a system call FAAST. An enhanced generation of smoke detection and Neil Towers and Kevin Dennis kindly came over to Drax HQ to demonstrate this product. An overview from their website can be read below with a link for further info.
The FAAST device range is designed to protect people and assets in even the most challenging environments where standard detection methods fail or are prone to false alarm, or in areas which may not previously have been protected
