As well as an impressive array of guest speakers covering a range of topics – most notably Colonel Tim Collins and Olympic gold medal winner James Cracknell – the event also serves as a chance for fire and security professionals to explore the very latest technology from suppliers across the world.
After a busy opening day of the event, we were invited to a VIP Champagne cruise along the River Thames aboard ‘The Elizabethan’, courtesy of our friends, Apollo – one of the world's leading manufacturers of fire detection solutions for commercial and industrial applications.
Boarding our evening’s transport right outside the Excel Arena after a fascinating opening day, we were able to discuss the day’s event over a glass or two of bubbly and a delicious buffet, all before being entertained by some fantastic live music while cruising down the Thames. Travelling back on the Emirates Air Line cable car that crossed the Thames from Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Victoria Dock.
After taking in the sights of London and with a head full of nautical lingo, we disembark the vessel from the starboard side at the O2 at 9.15pm before making our way back to the Excel Arena – slightly unsteady on our feet, due to the time spent on the boat rather than the champagne.
We’d firstly like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Apollo for being such fabulous hosts and laying on such a memorable evening. And to everyone involved in FIREX International for another excellent event.
